How to use it

  1. Type the names or teams, one per line. Up to 64.
  2. Leave Shuffle the draw on for a random draw, or turn it off to keep your order as the seeding (the first name is the top seed).
  3. Press Make bracket. Click the winner of each match and they move on to the next round.
  4. Press Print for a paper copy.

How a single-elimination bracket works

Every match has a winner and a loser, and the loser is out. The winners meet in the next round until one champion is left. If the number of teams is not a power of two (4, 8, 16, 32), some teams get a bye, which means they move straight to the next round. The top seeds get the byes.

Matches are always one fewer than the number of teams, because every match removes exactly one team and the tournament ends when one is left.
