What people use it for
- Boiling eggs: about 6 minutes for soft, 8 for medium, 10 to 12 for hard, from boiling water
- Steeping tea: roughly 3 minutes for black tea, 2 for green
- Baking and roasting
- Resting meat or dough
- Microwave and oven reminders
Times for eggs and tea are common guides, not exact: egg size, starting temperature and your altitude all change the result. Treat them as a starting point and adjust to taste.
Questions
How long should I boil an egg?
As a rough guide from boiling water: about 6 minutes for a soft yolk, 8 for medium and 10 to 12 for fully hard. Cool eggs in cold water afterwards so they stop cooking.
Will it ring if my screen locks?
Browsers can pause sound when the screen locks. For long cooking times, keep the screen on or use your phone's own clock app as a backup.
Does the timer keep working in another tab?
Yes. It measures real clock time, so it stays correct while you use another tab or app. The time left also shows in the tab title. Your browser may mute sound in a background tab on some phones, so keep the screen on for the alarm.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no install and no limit. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in any modern phone browser. While a countdown is running we ask the screen to stay awake where your browser allows it.
