Censor a Photo
Cover parts of a picture with a solid block, mosaic or blur.
Quick answer: Choose a picture and draw over the part to hide. Solid black cover cannot be recovered. Blur and mosaic can be reversed in some cases, so do not use them for private details. Download the result as a PNG.
⚠ Blur and mosaic can be reversed or read back in some cases. Do not rely on them for passwords, ID or card numbers, addresses or faces you must protect. For anything private, choose Cover (solid black): it cannot be recovered.
How to use it
- Choose a picture or drop it on the box.
- Pick a shape (rectangle, circle or brush) and an effect (mosaic, blur or solid cover). Use the Strength slider for how strong the effect is.
- Drag over the part of the picture you want to change. Repeat for other areas. Undo removes the last one.
- Press Download PNG.
Blur and mosaic can be reversed
Blur and mosaic are not safe for private information. They can be partly or fully reversed in some cases, and a light blur or a small mosaic block may still be readable. Software can sometimes sharpen a blurred picture or guess the hidden characters, and the larger the picture the easier it gets. For passwords, card numbers, ID numbers, addresses, licence plates and faces you must protect, use Cover (solid black). It replaces the pixels completely, so nothing can be recovered. The downloaded PNG contains only the edited picture, with no copy of the original inside. This tool does not detect faces by itself: you draw over the area.
