Final Grade Calculator
Find the score you need on the final exam to reach the grade you want.
Quick answer: Enter your current grade, the grade you want and how much the final counts for. For example with 84% now, a goal of 90% and a final worth 25%, you need 108% on the final, which is not possible without extra credit.
How to use it
- Type your current grade in percent.
- Type the course grade you would like.
- Type how much the final exam counts for, such as 20 or 30.
- The score you need on the final appears.
The formula
Needed score = (goal − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With a current grade of 84, a goal of 80 and a final worth 25%: (80 − 84 × 0.75) ÷ 0.25 = 68%.
What you need on a 20% final
| Current grade | To get an A (90) | To get a B (80) | To get a C (70) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95% | 70% | 20% | -30% |
| 90% | 90% | 40% | -10% |
| 85% | 110% | 60% | 10% |
| 80% | 130% | 80% | 30% |
| 75% | 150% | 100% | 50% |
| 70% | 170% | 120% | 70% |
